KaruSphère is a research laboratory whose mission is the scientific analysis of Caribbean geoscience. Specialized in the field of air pollution and waste, this young laboratory offers the following services: consulting, measurement and air sampling, database operation (statistical analysis), health impact study, writing reports and scientific articles, teaching and training (seminars, symposia), communication (popularization of science) and numerical modeling.
Sensitized very early on the environmental issues facing the Guadeloupean archipelago, its president Dr. Thomas PLOCOSTE chose to specialize in the physico-chemical study of pollutants in tropical environments.
In 2008, during his internship at the end of the Master 2 study at the National Institute of Agronomic Research of the West Indies (Duclos – Petit-Bourg), his research focused on the impact of rainfall and evapotranspiration in Basse-Terre of Guadeloupe for an elution model of Chlordecone.
Then, following this work carried out from 2009 to 2013, he wrote a Thesis at the University of the West Indies (UA, Fouillole – Pointe-à-Pitre) a Thesis on the night dispersion of atmospheric pollutants from the Gabarre landfill.
His integration at the University of the West Indies from 2013 to 2018 as a temporary teaching and research associate, then as a research engineer, allowed him to continue this research on air pollution in a tropical environment.
With this rich experience of his strong academic background, Dr. Thomas PLOCOSTE founded KaruSphère in November 2018.
